Welcome back to my little corner of the internet!
It is autumn and it is time to be nostalgic, to remember birthday parties you were invited to. As I grew up in Italy, it was almost a stable treat at every birthday party.
Salame al cioccolato, aka chocolate salami, is a super easy dessert that kids will love, because it looks like a salami 🙂
Are you ready to make it? Here we go!
Ingredients
200 g cookies
200 g bitter chocolate
150 g soft butter
2 eggs
100 g sugar
Powdered sugar
Start by roughly crushing the cookies using your hands. They should not be too crushed, because they are going to be the “fat” of your salami.
Next you should melt your chocolate. To do so, you’ll have to make a water bath. Take a pot and pour water into it. Heat the water up, without bringing it to a boil. Place a smaller pot inside the pot, without filling it with water. Melt the chocolate inside this pot.
In the meantime mix your butter in a bowl. Add the sugar and mix it to a smooth cream with the butter. Now add the eggs. Add the chocolate, after having it removed from the heat, but being still liquid. Mix it again and add the cookies.
Transfer the mixture to a baking paper and roll it tightly to a salami. Place it in the fridge for at least 5 hours. Alternatively, you can put it into the freezer, if you are out of time.
If you would like to, drizzle some powdered sugar on the salami to give it the original look of a salami. Cut it into slices and serve it.
Do you know this recipe? What did you use to eat at your friends’ birthday parties when you were a kid? Let me know in the comments down below.
