Dorayaki -Doraemon’s favourites

Welcome back to my little corner of the internet.

With the days getting colder and long hours sitting behind a computer, I start craving for some sweet snack to chew on. While surfing on the internet, I randomly bumped into a GIF with Doraemon. It struck me like lightning: I needed to eat some dorayaki!

These Japanese treats are incredibly popular and quick and easy to make. No wonder Doraemon could not resist.

So, let’s make so quick dorayaki just in time for an afternoon snack.

Ingredients for 6 dorayaki:

150 g Anko (red bean paste)

100 g flour

1 egg

30 g sugar

120 ml milk

1 tsp mirin

1 1/2 tsp baking soda

vegetable oil for frying

Start by mixing egg and sugar until you get a white and fluffy cream. Add milk and mix some more. Now add the flour and the baking soda.

Heat up some oil in a frying pan and pour one ladle on the pan. Form a small pancake shape, approximately the size of a saucer. Once some bubbles form on the surface, flip the pancake over and cook until golden.Repeat with the rest of the batter.

Now it is time to fill them. Fill half of the dorayaki with anko and close with the other half. (If you are a chocolate lover like my husband, you  can use Nutella or chocolate spread instead of the red bean paste).
